The remote control has been the definition of control for the couch potato, not to mention the countless wars fought over it when a couple decides to catch up on some TV. Fraunhofer-Gesellschaft have developed a new technology called iPoint 3D.

The technology promises to allow users to communicate with their 3D TVs and monitors using simple gestures and without need for 3D glasses or data gloves. Other places where this technology may see some demand is in video gaming, cooking and hospital operating rooms as other alternative uses for the technology. It allows people to interact with the display through simple non-contact gestures.

All we can do for now is just wait and watch the fun as the rivalry between competing LCD makers brings this feature as the reason to upgrade the TV. Creative MovieWorks HD iPod dock lets you view HD movies on the big screen.
